The physical background of this model is the laser stimulation of skin in order to measure the density of [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nociceptionreceptors nociceptive] receptors. For a correct interpretation of the experimental data, an accurate knowledge of the temperature distribution in time and across the skin is needed. The metamodel allows selecting various laser types (Gaussian, flat-top, C02, YAP, YAG, ...) and various stimulus characteristics (imposed flux, closed-loop controlled temperature). Each simulation generates a graphical result file
plot.pdf
that is directly interpretable by clinicians.

The physical background of this model is the laser stimulation of skin in order to measure the density of nociceptive receptors. Each simulation generates a graphical result file plot.pdf that is directly interpretable by clinicians.

To start the model, open a terminal from the left menu-bar of the virtual machine window, and issue the command gmsh at the prompt. Then, from the File > Open menu of Gmsh, open the file laser.py located in the ELMERMODELS/laser directory. A detailed tutorial is available here.
