Hi Ben - There are a bunch of .geo files in the distribution (in 
gmsh/tutorial and gmsh/demos) and I've just created a wiki for sharing 
user-contributed examples: http://geuz.org/gmsh/wiki/FrontPage 
(username:gmsh, passwd: wiki). It's empty right now but I hope not for 
too long...

(New versions of Gmsh will also allow you to read surface mesh files 
directly in STL format or in INRIA's mesh format, and use them as a 
starting point for new surfaces and volume meshes.)
