1) download and uncompress a recent fltk 1.1 source release (1.1.7 or
recent svn snapshot 1.1.x) and a recent gsl source release (I use 1.8)

2) in the fltk source directory, type

./configure --enable-localjpeg --enable-localpng --enable-localzlib
--enable-quartz
make
sudo make install

3) in the gsl source directory, type

./configure
make
sudo make install

This will install all the prerequisites in /usr/local. Once this is done
you should be able to build gmsh by simply typing "./configure" and "make".
