[Gmsh] Choosing correct file extension.

Hi,
I'm quite new to using mesh generation software.  I'm looking to use Gmsh to
open a 3D mesh file I have and then to remake the mesh as I was able to do
with your 'sphere tutorial'.

I've tried multiple file extensions and can't seem to work on the mesh at
all.  I simply wish to use the 3D mesh function and refine function.

It this possible with Gmsh?
