[Gmsh] given number of nodes

Dear gmsh users,

I didn't get any answer to my question. May be it was unclear, so I try 
again.

I would like to know if it is possible to specify the total number of 
nodes of a 2D unstructured mesh, instead of prescribing the mesh element 
size at each point.
