[Gmsh] [gmsh] mesh generation with an edge crack

Hello all,

I'd like to create a mesh with an edge crack as shown in Figure (b), but
I'm not sure how to do it with gmsh.  I tried subtracting the edge crack
volume from the beam volume as subtracting an internal volume from the
outer volume, but it didn't work.  I checked gmsh tutorials and demos and
couldn't find a similar one.  I'd appreciate if someone suggest me a right
approach to model a beam geometry with an edge crack.
