[Gmsh] Fw: How to generate a 3D surface by a known function

Dear Gmsh developers,

I wonder whether Gmsh can generate a 3D surface by a known function, for example: z=sin(x)*sin(y).
I know that Gmsh can generate a geometry from  point--line--plane--volume. Can it generate a surface directly from points?
