Post-doctorate position: 1 year renewable 1 year, starting January 2008, 
in Marseille, France.
Scientific collaboration between the Agfa company, Mortsel, Belgium 
(agfa.com) and the Institut Fresnel (UMR 6133), Marseille, France 
(fresnel.fr).
Topic: scattering of visible light by a random distribution of highly 
anisotropic pigments of irregular shape.
Tasks: comparison of several electromagnetic modelling approaches (2D 
FEM, 3D FEM, interacting dipole model, homogenization and equivalent 
media ), generation of the random scatterers according to prescribed 
distribution laws, delivery of a modelling tool to Agfa.
Required skills: electromagnetism and wave propagation, numerical 
resolution of PDE (Finite element method), computational physics, random 
media, computer programming.

Sujet: diffraction de la lumière visible par des pigments anisotropes de 
forme irrégulière.
Tâches: comparaison de plusieurs approches de modélisation 
électromagnétique (éléments finis 2D, éléments finis 3D, interaction de 
dipôles, homogénéisation et milieux équivalents), génération aléatoire 
des diffracteurs suivant une loi de distribution préétablie, livraison 
d'un outil de modélisation à Agfa.
Compétences requises: électromagnétisme et propagation des ondes, 
résolution numérique des équations aux dérivées partielles (méthode des 
éléments finis), modèles numériques pour la physique, milieux 
aléatoires, programmation.
