[Gmsh] local mesh refinement

Hello,

I am using GMSH for meshing volumes from imported step-files. Now I have a geometry which needs in some parts a very fine mesh. But I don't want to have the whole volume fine meshed. What is the best way to do a local mesh refinement? At the moment I am using the GUI version. Is it possible to do a local refinement in the GUI on step-files?
