[Gmsh] Tetrahedral mesh from a surface

Hello dear users,

I would like to generate a 3D mesh made up of tetrahedrons, to perform finite element calculations. Currently I have a .msh file of a closed triangular surface (from scanner). Why doesn't gmsh mesh my object when I click Mesh->3D?
