[Gmsh] Mesh Directional Refinement

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know how I could refine the attached "nmesh.vtk" so that it
does not add any nodes on the outer edges, but creates at least 4 layers in
the thin direction? As some examples I manually created what I would like
to happen shown in "mesh.vtk" and "rectangle.vtk".

If something like this is not possible, is it possible to create 2 more
layers of quads in the thin direction? Or even maybe a boundary layer that
does not add nodes on the outer edges?

I have tried everything I can think and am not having any luck. I would
really appreciate some advice.

Thank you.
