[Gmsh] Very slow visualization in gmsh

Dear all,

Me and some other people in my research group are experiencing some
unusually slow field visualization in large meshes (> 300.000 elements)
that we never experienced before.

We tried it in with Ubuntu 16.04 and 14.04, as well as in computers with
both AMD and Nvidia graphic cards. We also tried the Gmsh versions 2.12.0,
2.11.0 and 2.8.0. Other OpenGL applications seem to be working fine.

Is anyone else having the same issue? Is it maybe related to a recent
upgrade in Ubuntu?
