[Gmsh] Periodic Line/Surface commands in Gmsh

Hello,

I would like to understand the proper usage of Periodic Line and Periodic
Surface in Gmsh. I have attached a Gmsh script file that shows my latest
attempt to use these commands. I noticed that the 2D mesh looks the same
with and without the Periodic Line commands, which leads me to believe that
I am not using the commands correctly.

Also, could you suggest any tutorials or examples that show the Periodic
commands?
