[Gmsh] Specifying notepad++ as editor

I am a complete beginner with gmsh. I just installed it on Windows 7 and Ubuntu 16.04.

On Windows the default .geo file editor is notepad. I changed that to notepad++, so the text editor command is now:

notepad++.exe '%s'

When I click 'Edit script' notepad++ starts up, but with a blank new file, not the .geo file that is active. How can I make notepad++ work?

Thanks

Gib
