[Gmsh] Win98 home directory

I removed a special trick in the code fairly recently because I didn't
remember why we added it in the first place. Apparently, this is why :-)

I just re-added a special case for Windows machines in my source tree.
The fix should show up in tomorrow's nightly source archive.
