[Gmsh] Irregular mesh

Hello,

We are civil engineering students working on granular grains fragmentation.
We are trying to mesh a disc. We have observed that, when using the function "Refine by splitting", the mesh obtained is not regularly refined (find attached mesh.png).
Could you please guide us towards a more regular meshing?
Is there a way to obtain a more regular meshing?
